The Holistic Needs Assessment (HNA) tool or checklist can be completed on paper or electronically.
Ideally it should be a self assessment but some individuals may need support either from an health or social care worker, friend, relative or a volunteer.
Where concerns are raised, a care and support plan should then be co-created involving the person with cancer.
There are a range of versions of HNAs, not all Macmillan badged.
eHNA (electronic version) enables Macmillan to collect a sub set of personal data e.g. gender, age not name or date of birth, linking these to treatments e.g. surgery, chemo to look for trends and to identify the mostcommon unmet needs.
