What you need to know

The Recovery Package seeks to address holistic needs, to provide the most appropriate information and support at the right time(s) for an individual and to support people to manage the effect that cancer may have on their lives, including the consequences of treatment. In essence, it seeks to maximise health and wellbeing for people living with cancer (while equipping and supporting them to self-manage at a level that is right for them).
Health and Wellbeing promotion can be thought of as a ‘golden thread’ which runs through all elements of the Recovery Package.

  • Until recently called ‘events’ now may come in a variety of forms and not necessarily an ‘event’.
  • Mix of presentations and market place is the most popular and informative
  • Key to the success is the involvement of volunteers to coordinate the ‘event’, buddying, information and support, financial advice
  • Provides the opportunity to:
  • inform and educate patients about the holistic aspects and ongoing management of their disease.
  • Raise awareness of local facilities, supportive care and opportunities that are available to them and their families.

Provide the right information at the right time:

  • Written Information
  • Digital information
  • Generic Info and Support
  • Targeted Info and Support
  • Referral / signposting
  • Virtual MDT
